I’m Katie — the photographer behind Katie Burdick Photography. My creativity has been shaped by well-loved books, the glow of old movies, and the quiet beauty of wandering the streets of new cities. At the heart of everything I do is my love for Jesus and a deep desire to serve others in His name — especially within the beautiful and sacred covenant of marriage. Recently married myself, I know in my bones how profoundly meaningful this day is: the tenderness, the promises, the moments that reflect the heartbeat of your story. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that weddings move fast — which is why I’m here to slow the world down, notice the details you might miss, and make sure your love story is captured with all the elegance and charm it deserves.
Μεράκι is a Greek word meaning to pour soul, love, creativity, and wholehearted devotion into what you do—so much so that your work carries a piece of who you are. It’s why I had the word tattooed on my hand the last time I was in Greece—so every time I pick up my camera, I’m reminded to create with reverence, wonder, and the kind of heart that transforms clicks of a camera into deeply meaningful art

-I’m a Lawrence, KS native and 2014 graduate from the University of Kansas. Rock Chalk!
-Before photography, I was a high school history teacher whose love of stories-past began in elementary school with my American Girl dolls and incessantly rewatching The Sound of Music.
-I also taught digital media, which is where my love for visual storytelling took off. What was once just a teenage interest grew into the development and leading of an entire program for high school students. I was given an opportunity that massively grew during COVID when the need for live streaming skyrocketed. EVERYTHING began to change for me during that time!
- My husband Jeff and I got married in February of 2025 and are the proud parents to a lovable and spoiled silver lab named Fitzgerald (as in F. Scott).
-Old movies have my heart. Whether it’s the classics like Casablanca and White Christmas, or 80s hits like Steel Magnolias and Dead Poets Society – I’ll never get over the nostalgic feel!
-I’m an avid reader — mystery, romance, historical fiction, thrillers, or classic novels. Whether on the screen or in the pages of a book, getting lost in a well told story has always been a place I love to be.
–My dad raised my brothers and I on Classic Rock. The Eagles will forever be my favorite band.
–I have 8 tattoos (for now).
–I believe we love because He first loved us (1 John 4:19). Christ’s love for us is truly the greatest love story ever told.
-My love language is thoughtful details — which might explain my obsession with both intricate flatlays and Taylor Swift lyrics.
–I’m a lifelong Chiefs fan and love a Sunday afternoon at Arrowhead Stadium.
–Of all the roles I’ve had in life, the best by far is Aunt Katie.
